Communication:
Email within the class - Could be used for the "Muddiest
Point" exercise,
in which students email the instructor a statement of their "muddiest
point", or the part they didn't really understand, from their readings,
presentations, etc. the day before the class meets. The instructor then jumps
right into the areas of the topic the students are having the most trouble
with.
Put office hours or review sessions online.
Include a roster - Lists
students and links to the "student web page" within
Blackboard - Could use this as an assignment to have students introduce themselves
to the class and to get them using Blackboard. Also, student pages could
be used as a way to create a web page on a particular topic,
with links, text
and even an image relating to that topic.
Discussion Board - Instructor poses a question
or topic for the students to reflect and respond to, giving
an opportunity for sharing attitudes, providing
feedback, or peer review.
Group Pages - Shared space within the course web site for
sharing files, email, discussion board and chat amongst
the group members.
