Using technology to enhance the educational experience of our students.

All Faculty & Staff
The 2005 Teaching with Technology Award winner was Dr. Don Schertz, Electrical Engineering. In his workshop, he demonstrated how you can record your lectures live in the classroom then put them on the web for students to review, or for distant or absent students to view. One demonstration covered recording audio into PowerPoint and compressing it for web delivery. The second demonstration presented the video recording of any web cam or desktop application activity. Both methods allow you to produce content ready to be put on Blackboard or a web server to provide anytime/anywhere access to your course material.

"Computer Recording of Lectures" was held:
Wednesday, April 20, 2005
3:15 - 5:00 PM
Library Packard Room

Each participant had the ability to prepare a partial lecture using the techniques presented.

Hands-on Workshop
Attendees were given a pre-produced set of PowerPoint slides and a script to use for the recording of the lecture.  The presenter walked the attendees through the process, explaining the settings they should use and the steps to be taken.  Attendees used a microphone to record their narration to the PPT slides, then used Impatica to produce a compressed presentation for web or CD delivery.  Attendees posted the presentation to Blackboard.  They were also instructed on how to send their PowerPoint files to ITAC to have them "Impaticized" for Blackboard or a CD-ROM.

Attendees were given the option of creating a presentation with Viewlet Cam based on their interests.  Web Cams, wearable microphones, tablet pen/mice, etc. were available at different stations for attendees to try.
